Despite real progress, diversity, equity and inclusion is still a challenge for Australia’s advertising industry. We were asked to brand a platform to inform positive and lasting change when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Introducing ‘Create Space’ - named for its intent to create space in conversations, create space in leadership and to create space in the industry for a more diverse presence.

Despite real progress, diversity, equity and inclusion is still a challenge for Australia’s advertising industry. For the industry, there’s an added impetus to passionately pursue progress. D&I is fundamental to historic and future success; advertising was built around a notion of a communal space for all talented thinkers and makers to contribute and craft ideas that drive change. We were tasked with creating a name and brand identity for the Advertising Council Australia’s new D&I platform. Create Space was named for its intent to create space in conversations, leadership and space in the industry for a more diverse presence. The brandmark and design language were concepted to reflect the change that was being called for. The mark utilises a dynamic, constantly shifting rectangle and a variable, multi-weight typeface to reflect the shift needed and the creation of space. The visual system is composed of a bright, diverse colour palette and a flexible grid system; which all worked together to depict the industry’s call for diversity and need to flex and adapt.
